Happy Ostara! The Spring Equinox is upon us this week, and it's my favorite time of the year. It's a time of rebirth, fresh starts, and new life in both the natural world and our lives. I don't know about you, but I have a lot of Spring cleaning to do! This year, my Winter was particularly cluttered—both energetically and literally.
I'll be resetting my altar for Spring, and I wanted to share so you'll get some inspiration.
After I take everything down and do a good physical cleaning, I'll smudge with some white sage and clear away any lingering stale energy.
Next, I'll light some incense to bring in the higher frequencies and create a sacred space for my new altar.
I'll start with a new Altar cloth as the altar's foundation. I'll look for a small, beautifully designed cloth in spring colors or with symbols like flowers, eggs, or the moon.
Next, I'll set a candle in a soft pastel color. I'll ensure it's lightly scented with a flower scent or citrus. If it's not scented, I may use an essential oil and anoint it before I light it for the first time. I'll also sprinkle some lavender (purification, calming, stress relief) on the candle. My candle is central to most of my spiritual practices as it symbolizes light, guidance, and the element of fire.
I'll place some of my favorite spring crystals for the element of Earth.
Clear Quartz: For clarity, healing, and amplifying energy.
Rose Quartz: To promote love, harmony, and peace.
Amethyst: For spiritual growth, intuition, and tranquility.
Green Aventurine: For luck, prosperity, and growth.
My altar wouldn't be complete without some incense and my favorite holder! Spring scents like sandalwood (for grounding), citrus (for clearing), or mint (for energy) can create a wonderful atmosphere. Incense represents the element of air and is used for purification and setting intentions.
Don't Forget your Decorative Elements
Consider adding a miniature statue or figurine like a small goddess figure, rabbit, or bird to symbolize fertility, new beginnings, and the essence of Ostara.
Seasonal flowers or seeds (Earth elements) embody life's cycle and the potential for growth, aligning with the themes of rebirth and renewal. Find a lovely vase and a small decorative bowl for the seeds.
Add a small decorative bowl or vial with some water, representing the element of water.
Incorporate feathers as an element of air and use them in cleansing rituals.
Add a bell to signal the beginning and end of a ritual or meditation.
Optional:
Create and add a sigil representing your goals and desires for rebirth in your life.
Arrange the crystals in a Spring grid to intensify their power.
Add a bowl of colored eggs representing Spring, Easter, and Ostara traditions.
No matter how you celebrate Spring, take a moment to acknowledge the change of the season. It's a meaningful symbolic gesture to end the season of Winter and participate in and appreciate the season of renewal and rebirth.

From Winter's sleep, we now awake,
With open hearts, our dreams we take.
With flowers bloom and life anew,
Bring forth the joy in vibrant hue.
May growth be ours in every way,
From this blessed Ostara day.

Spring's blessings upon us, year to year.
