The Spring Equinox arrives on March 20th and as the name equinox suggests, we will experience equal day/night-time. That makes it a perfect time for ritual and spellwork.
Traditionally, the vernal equinox is a time of renewal and rebirth. After a long winter, the spring, or vernal equinox welcomes warmer weather and the beginning of spring. This time of year is often celebrated with rituals of renewal, such as planting seeds or cleaning out the home and garden in preparation for the new season.
Witches and pagans often celebrate the vernal equinox with rites of passage, such as initiation ceremonies or passages into new levels of power. Other rituals might include consecrating new tools or charms or simply spending time in nature to connect with the land and the spirits that reside there.
For many people, this time around us to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the coming one. For all, it’s a time to celebrate new beginnings and all that lies ahead.
Whatever your tradition, the vernal equinox provides a perfect opportunity for a fresh start.
